Vitamins4u.com.au is proud to introduce another member of our team; Ricki-Lee Harrison. Ricki is a personal trainer who specialises in boxing and cardio fitness. Ricki's story is below and is indeed inspirational for anyone trying to improve their health and fitness levels. Ricki shares her weight loss journey with you along with the simple formula that made all the difference to achieving her goals along the way.
The first wealth is health – a statement that I have fully come to appreciate! At 22 years old I weighed in at 115kg and thought ‘WOW, how did I let myself get like this?’. My challenge was to change my lifestyle to start shifting some of the weight which would eventually lead to major health problems and a lower quality of life. I felt like the real me was stuck inside a big body!
4 years and 45kgs later I am happy to say that with help from my personal trainer, family and friends I am nearly at my goal weight!!!!! My journey has not been without struggles but the results are worth it a million times over! From a size 20 to 12 my body and life have changed dramatically.
On my journey to my goal weight my personal trainer saw potential in me and since then I have also become a fitness professional, helping people every day to feel better about their bodies. Being a personal trainer is allowing me to be involved in fitness and to be accountable to my clients so that I don’t fall into my old ways!
So.... I know what it is like to be obese. I know what it takes to lose weight. I have been there and back and my passion is to see other people experience the joy that I have feeling comfortable in their own skin - To have the energy and best quality of life possible.
Training has revolutionised my life! It has changed who I am and how I feel about my body. I have learned to discipline my body and control my eating. For me weight loss and gain is a simple equation
Weight Loss = Energy In < Energy Out
Weight Gain = Energy In > Energy Out
If we
are eating more than we are burning off then we will put on weight! For me this
was revolutionary....like someone handing me the keys to the city.
As a
boxing instructor I work with many different varieties of people with different health and fitness
goals. Boxing is fantastic cardio exercise as the intensity is very high. It is
also fun and can help with stress and tension (punching things!)
Also
exercise can be fun!!! Involve your friends and family or find a competitive
sport and become part of a team.
Lets move, move more and move more often!!!
